This is the real grave of Cinderella. She can be visited at Rose Bill Historic Cemetary in Macon, Georgia... high above the Ocmulgee River.

Cinderella was a small girl's dream a long, long time go
She really did exist for me in fairytale folklore
I think the child in me was she, like every other girl
Who looked for her Prince Charming in silks with onyx curls
Childhood dreams resided in a chest of dreams
Where stress was locked out of the code of wonderful old things
I walked today upon the hill above the Ocmulgee
Rounded the lane and stood face to face with my childhood dream
An angel stood before my eyes in stoic granite stone
I couldn't move, was mesmerized ,at what I'd come upon
With aromatic breeze just then, in petuclli laced vanilla
Standing in awe I read the stone, here lies Cinderella
I shook my fears loose just then,I read the epitaph
Cinderella lived and died, was loved and that's a fact
Here in middle Georgia, right at the river's side
The Princess of all my years loved before she died
She found her real Prince Charming, this brought me to my knees
This fairytale had lived a life...she chose to BELIEVE !!!!!
Susan - Enjoyed the poem. If Cinderella really lived, it's natural that she would be buried in Rose Hill Cemetery with Little Martha And Elizabeth Reed. You poem brings back the magic I felt on my visits there. - David Hightower
BELIEVE!!! Oh yes...I most certainly do. This Cinderella knows that Prince Charming does exist and is alive and well I my heart. I just wish my carriage would turn into a pumpkin a little less often.

Interesting adjective - stoic. Granite is pure stone, and incredibly durable and almost indistructive - stoicism aptly suits its character. The Scottish city of Aberdeen is known as the 'Granite City'. Quite fitting therefore that the angel be sculptured in granite as a testimony to the indestructibleness of true love and the quest for it.
Even when I saw this film as a boy, I entered into the spirit of Cinderalla's quest for requited love. Indeed, as I get older and more sentimental, I have re-entered into the spirit of love stories and films. I now allow my eyes to fill at the end of Olivier and Oberon's Wuthering Heights, and also the end scenes of Secrets and Lies. We're not made of granite are we - thank goodness!
As a fellow Georgian, thank you for this one. The story is a shocker for some, in its beautiful and highly believable one. Your telling it creates "presence:" of the reader. In the US South, high emotions create, "chill bumps," and that's what your poem gave me. It is so deeply tender... Little Girl Susan.
