Tony, I’ve been there. It’s not pleasant and it takes time to get to the point where you really do want to go on, but after a spell, I was able to move on. You’ll never replace her and I wouldn’t tell you to try, but if you are interested in seeking companionship with someone who has been through your same dilemma and might be understanding of your feelings…. Someone to share a meal, or a movie, or just a nice conversation,,,, they are out there and they are anxiously waiting to meet someone just like you. I never thought I would consider signing up on a dating service, but one day an ad for Match.com popped up on my computer. A free trial, as I recall. Anyway, I decided to give it a try and I’m ever so grateful that I did. I met a lady who lived just up the road 10 miles from me and she’s the sweetest lady you could ever imagine. We each lost our spouse to cancer. We began there and built on that. For over a month we talked by email, before we decided to meet for ice cream. That was 2 1/2 years ago. We now share a fantastic love and are enjoying everything that comes our way. We realize that we don’t have a lot of years left, but we’ve resolved that we’ll make the best of them, with and for each other. I still miss my wife, she still misses her husband, but we have a lot in common and we’re sharing a lot of very enjoyable times in “golden years.”

Now, with that said, be careful. Read between the lines. There may be some who would take advantage of you, given the opportunity. But, we talked for over a month before we agreed to meet. We had spent many hours together before we ever met face to face. We knew were a match by that time. Good luck and please send me a message if you'd like to. Hang in there. Dick

My other half is still alive so I can only say I can imagine although I even doubt that. I know what it was like to lose a mother, father and my older brother. I can only take comfort in the fact that I will greet them all once more in Heaven. Although, I have often wondered if I will even know them.
I guess we just trust God.
