Memories at the Cross

On a hill not very far away

As we walked along in the cool soft green grass

Just beyond the horizon where the sky became

Mellow and red

There stood a cross where a man once hung

Who came in to this World to take on his shoulders?

The sins of his people

He hung there between two thieves

One on his right and one on his left

I heard one of them say come down from here

Save your self and us

And I heard the other one say for this man here

Has done nothing wrong we are getting

The Just punishment for our sins

Jesus Remember me when you come

 into your Kingdom “today you will be with

me in Paradise”

As John came up from behind the cross and

Stood behind Mary the mother of Jesus

The tearful words that were said

The feeling of sadness that was in the air

The prayers that were said

There was a sign that hung up above the cross that read “the King of the Jews”

And as the solders gambled for his clothing

As the final words were said as Jesus hung

Down his head

It is finished….
