SHE
I live life as I please.
I’m single by my own choice.
There are no disagreements,
no one ever raises their voice.
I do whatever I want,
which really isn’t so very much.
Yet, I still find myself longing
for a lady’s gentle touch.
She’s on my mind each morning
and every evening as I lie down.
Still, life is much less complicated
when there’s no she around.
I’m not much good with turmoil,
age may have taken a toll.
But, with no she in my life
it’s like I have no soul.
I don’t need someone looking after me,
nor someone who needs to be looked after.
I just want a she to have fun with
and enjoy some mutual laughter.
Someone with whom to share life
without all the complications,
have fun, frequently wake up together,
yet comfortable taking separate vacations.
But, time waits for no one,
that which remains surely won’t last.
She should occasionally share my sunrise
before our time has passed.
