ANNOYING HABITS
First you need to know,
it's not our first rodeo.
We've both "traveled the circuit"
and we've both been to "the show."
Now in our sixties,
two years into the game,
we’re now living together
and nothing has been the same.
The other night we were in bed
watching a little TV,
when suddenly Sweetie rolled over
and had this to say to me.
You know, I’ve been thinking
I’m so lucky I found you,
people often have annoying little habits,
or something nasty that they do.
They might constantly track in dirt,
making it necessary to mop,
or squeeze the toothpaste from the middle,
or maybe forget to replace the top,
They leave the shower curtain gaping open,
or their wet towel on the floor,
or they use the bathroom stool
without bothering to close the door.
They’ll leave clutter on the sink,
or the vanity door ajar,
often times you wonder
where the hell they think they are.
This isn’t some fancy hotel
and I’m certainly not your maid.
You’ve never made me feel that way,
that’s a compliment needing paid.
Well, she left me tongue tied,
not one single thing to say.
If it hadn’t already been night time,
she’d have certainly made my day.
There was a risk to getting involved,
but it certainly has been worth it.
In each and every facet,
our pairing has been perfect.
So of course, the feelings are mutual,
life without her, I just can’t fathom,
and when it comes to annoying habits,
even us perfect one’s have em.
It’s just that she’s very good
at overlooking my blunders.
It’s either that, or maybe she thinks
I’m one of the seven wonders.
Well, she had me feeling mellow,
ready to drink the Koolaid.
When she starts talking friendly,
every once in a while, I get laid.
Then she said. “After all these months
I can't think of one single thing,
that you do to annoy me,
except,,,, you won't wear a ring.”
