Me So Shy

Figuring myself, if any of you have suffered from being shy, you know where I'm coming from. Those of you who never had the problem, count yourself lucky, then go on and play with your rubber ducky. I write poetry now because when I was younger I didn't have the nerve to face up. Oh, I had the muscle and toughness but I didn't have it in my head. Say what you want about my writing and poetry, I will not be stopped or turned around unless you kill me physically. My battle isn't with any of you personally. It's with my own head and I plan to keep winning, don't have much more time, my hair is thinning.

Poem Artwork

I was born a very shy person,
as I got older it worsen.
A whole lot of life passed me by,
until I learned to strongly defy.
Even love will pass one by,
if we are too darn shy.
And that's just what it did,
until I put in a more aggressive bid.

My cars use to be all dark,
now I have a little red truck to park.
Red with racing strips black,
low rider with back off on back.
Finally figured why I went loud,
because of my shyness I wasn't proud.

Made a whole aggressive change,
some thought I was acting strange.
Use to be I would hardly dance,
now I do it every chance.
I'm the first on the dance floor,
dance all night until my legs are sore.

I got into writing and poetry for
the same reason.
Writing and verse keep me high profile,
just like my red truck,
it challenges my shy style.
I take on the challenge of shy,
nothing else in this darn world
is going to pass me by.
Not if I can get a word in,
short of commiting murder & sin.

This verse is in red,
just like my truck is red,
shy get out of my head,
Go mess with someone else instead.
A touch of you may still reside,
but I've ended your joy ride.
I know you're still clever,
but,
I'll fight you forever.

Thought provoking.
It caused me to remember that I was once shy.
Not any more.

Be assertive! it's another one of those lessons that should be taught in school instead of all the other stuff the try to stuff into kids. Good for you to challenge yourself always. Lady J

Hey man, don't get all rear bumped with me.
If we had any doubts...now we know and it is for you to guess what we are talking about, a little paranoia is good for the soul (which one?)

This is a great write, my friend.
When I was a kid I was shy too. I got a break after I got out of school. I went to another and became a radio announcer. Suddenly people looked up to me. Then I realized I had another fight to fight.
"Don't let it go to your head, Lew. You simply announce the records. You can't sing in tune. Oh well!
Any way I know what you are saying.
God Bless,
Lew

One,

You aren't shy in expressing yourself in honest verse: well done! Depends on the situation if I'm shy or not. :)

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.

I can appreciate this one; I was shy as a child (the teasing only made it worse), still am shy to a degree. Very well done poem, One; bravo! Keep on writing; those who don't appreciate a good poet like you are chumps! :)

(((HUGS))) and much love, your friend in Tx., Karen Lynn. :D
