Sometimes the past will try to keep us and it's sometimes hard to get rid of.
Walking, facing the horizon, my eyes are in the back of my head. They are viewing a time that's gone. So I turn around and walk backwards, hoping the view will be of the future. But I see the past chasing me down. I start to run but I trip up and fall, just in time for the past to fly over.
I take a deep breath and rise, run in the opposite direction. My past has tricked me good. I ran right into my chaser, consumed in what suppose to be gone, I live for awhile to figure my escape.
I can't run, I can't seem to hide, my past hungs me with love, comforts me in its splendor and shame. Then tells me that there is no escape. Reminds me that I should understand, embrace its power and learn from it. I embrace and give love back, walk away tall and straight, knowing that all is me, and I am all.

Grady,
This one is special. Our past will always be part of us. It makes us who we are today, and might help or hinder us in our future. We can't run away from it, but we can try to learn from it. This poem shows these thoughts very well.
