My reality.. Your reality
Is it all a lie?
We each have our own realities.
So you keep your memories
of ice cream and blue summer skys.
I will live with my memories of
bruises and black eyes.
Hold on to your memories
of camping and fun at the lake.
I will live with the memories
of the teeth you did break.
Smacking me hard on the mouth ...
as always an instinctive thing.
I wish you were not wearing
that black and white pearl ring.
I spit my teeth out.. there on the ground.
No big deal
just another day of memories you did fulfill.
You remember
antique furniture in a big beautiful home.
I remember
tip toeing through the rooms..
the house as quiet as a tomb.
I remember telling you the day
he hurt me down there.
I begged you not to tell ..
because I was scared.
You promised you wouldn't
I thought you really cared.
But you broke your promise.. and I lost all trust
Ahhh but you remember saving me!
You did what you must..
After all he was eventually gone.
Unfortunately it was years later..
After the damage was done.
Funny how we lived these events together..
Yet neither of us remembers the same..
My reality.. Your reality ..
Somewhere the truth remains...........
