Rise above.. an oldie

I just can't seem
to get over this..
I Know...
Rise above..
Do not cry..
Never scream..
Never ever let
them know your dreams..
To say them out load..
will surely
make them vanish..
Jealously
hatred
envy
vindictive people
I know all their schemes..
I know they have the power..
to destroy my sacred dreams..
Rise above!!!
God, I hate that saying..
Rise above this
pain..
loneliness
craving
profanity..
So unjust
You have always done it..
Just do it again.
Pretend it is not your heart..
they are
ripping ..
destroying
stabbing..
liquefying..
Pretend you are someone else..
change your name..
make a new start.
Just remember.
Do not make friends
Family does not exist..
Remember most of all
unconditional love
is simply a myth..
Now go on ---
RISE ABOVE!!

Erica

Thoughtful poem and I like the form of it

No one has the power to destroy your dreams, but yourself, a myth perpetrated by ourselves to keep ourselves in a 'failing' mode.

Thoughtful poem and I like the form of it and the way it tumbles down the page.

Great write Erica, Me, I count on my friends, who stood by me when I was down and the family too who did the same for me.

May be the cultural difference makes all the difference. Still rather than trusting poeple, I prefer to trust in HIM who is our Creator and Mentor.

As a person who loves God more than self, I have always hoped to live to see the day we could put rhetoric aside and realize most of us want the same things. We just have different ideas on how to achieve it. I hope we can have a peaceful place here at the Den for we are all here for the main purpose of writing poetry, and yes expressing ourselves and being read. It would be nice if we stopped the political baloney and put it in another forum on boards or something, and lets get back to enjoying each others poems. this comment will go on everyones post, so please don't feel singled out;-) Thank you, God bless your day, and make it a good one!

Outstanding write and makes perfect sense to me. To rise above we have to embrace and deal with the pain.

You have risen above it, and them. Your soul and spirit have survived, and your words bring joy and understanding to those with compassion enough to hear your cries.
