We all live in shadows..
It starts quite young..
The first time you disappoint a parent..
The first time you get hurt  by a friend
We  don't even realize..
The shadows have began..
The first time we are bloodied..
Kicked..
Broken down
By the ones we love.
We learn to create a shadowy cocoon..
To protect us from the pain of daily life..
We learn life isn't always fair..
We learn life isn't always right..
We begin to wrap ourselves in darkness..
We trust a little less..
Then as we grow older
Time teaches us real pain..
Teaches us disappointment..
Lost loves,,,
Broken dreams,
Life gets a little darker..
As we carry these scars..
Fearful  that the next one..
Will leave us blind within the dark..
Blind pure agony..
As those we love pass us by..
Our darkness thickens..
No longer shows ..
No longer hope..
We wrap this around us..
Our protective coat..
We don't have to open up..
We no longer have to try..
We stop laughing..
Stop living..
No one wonders why..
We are no longer in this life..
We are in our own..
solid cell..
No one can see us..
In our self made hell.
Now it is time to walk through the shadows..
Into the light..
You will be hurt again..
This I guarantee..
But how is our spirit to truly be free..
If we hide from what is meant to be..
Lessons we MUST learn..
Love
Pain..
Dreams..
Tears..
These must all come to pass..
If we are to reach our true  heights..
So through the darkness..
Pass the shadows..
Into the light..
Eventually we will find..
where we belong in this life..
But we must try.
We must fight.
