Shallow Waters~

just a thought....

Poem Artwork

I am drowning in shallow water..
Somehow unable to stand..
Drowning in shallow water..
Unable to reach land..
I am trying to swim..
The shore is so close..
There seems to be a rip tide..
Attached to my soul..
Keeping me in this water..
This water icy cold..
I stand up..
I sink in quick sand..
I kneel..
Water fills my lungs..
So I keep trying to swim to shore.
Wodering..
If it is all in my mind..
This shore I see..
So close..
Yet far..
How am I to reach it..
When I am getting so very tired.
Tomorrow they will find me..
In inches of water..
Face down and boated..
I hope the struggle shows on my face..
Then everyone will know I tried..
The very best I could..
I didn't quit ..
Life quit on me..
As I float on the top of shallow waters..
That somehow..
imprisoned my mind and soul..
Left here alone to die..
Drifting on shallow tides.

Very nicely done! See my poem "Casting in the Shadows". It is
similar to yours. Darkness sometimes overcomes us, no matter how
hard we try. I can feel the deep pathos in this piece, and I can
wholeheartedly relate.

When life quits on you, the best recourse is to go in search of another universe. There is always another one, you know. Very good poem, here.

Hi Erica, loved this, and I think it shows how it all feels sometimes, just sheer lunacy, hehe, the water always too shallow to swim and yet can be drowned in,

"~Shallow Waters~"... I am sure that Proteus will become a kind boy and will rescue his mother, and that Poseidon will keep the waves in low speed to enable the boy to swim with a single hand.

I enjoyed this masterpiece, Poet!
