~  Covered Bridge Autumn Frost  ~
                                                  ~

                       ~ Thin the layer of fog early morn
                        Footsteps, mark the white Autumn frost 
                        Oaken plank boards of the bridge
                        Strength of the hands that built

                       ~Burnished reds, golden wheat to umber brown
                        Awe inspiring the view
                        Covered bridges over streams
                        Pristine clear cold waters rainbow trout or two

                      ~ Autumn's dawning here in this rural farmland
                       Ruby throated hummingbirds have left
                       Geese are gathering, ever so in their nature's v
                       Autumn's frost only colours to cling

                      ~ The covered bridge an image on long country roads
                       To stories of sweethearts "the kissing bridge" I'm told
                       Names of "lovers" carved on the oak
                       Ever in "keepsake" your names if a walk you take 'or

                      ~ Tighten the reins chic chic
                       Horse will clop  and saunter
                       On oaken Covered Bridges
                       Fringed Surrey of a time long ago
