From colonial times to present, how have the somali politics shaped up itself and how have we ended up in a situation of chaos and strife.

Triple Curse

In the early years of the forties
winds of freedom blew in Somalia
With the help of the British Rule
a Somali Youth league was organized
SYL won the hearts and minds of people
It brought together brothers divided by tribe

But the seeds of conflict were sown within
Article five was intentionally repealed
This has opened evil gates of tribalism
Tribal Politics were introduced to share seats
A curse from God was cast upon us
The house started to burn at the roof top

The fire licked not away the lower structures
The military intervened. A coup was staged
Fire was contained. Normalcy was restored
Tribalism was buried but not in deep graves
The soldiers had shallow political knowledge
They meddled with the embers of tribalism.
They set foot on the road of destruction
Devil's fingers were at work
They touched buttons, shifted gear-points
Fire of tribal divisions was lit among the rulers
Each burning ruler rushed to his tribe for support
Sadly enough every tribe threw itself into fire.
Somalia was made a living hell by its rulers.
That was the second curse from God

Out from the ashes of the demolished house
Ghosts of Greed appeared. Warlords were born
Crimes against humanity were committed
Arms poured in. UN Resolutions violated
The world went into fatigue with donations
Expensive conferences held fourteen times
At last in Mbagathi something is building up
But not in the right direction as expected
Tribal and traditional elders were crowned
Tribal elders clear parliamentary candidates
They balance political equation with tribalism
Any aspirant must be blessed by his chief
Education is held hostage by the ignorant
Disaster is again creeping around silently
It is lurking behind the shadows of terror
I call upon Somalis to disown tribal politics
lest God tripled His curse to wipe us all.

Ghosts of Greed appeared
Education is held hostage by the ignorant

When greed and ignorance are involved in any political struggle, anywhere in the world, fair and just resolution is, indeed, an arduous task.

Truly hope Somalia's people can soon reach better times, Abdi-Noor.
