In some cultures men regard a woman as a missing item which has to be brought in the house to make it well established. A rural man must have a hut, a cow, a small plot of land, few utensils and a bed to sleep. When he finds all these things in his poessession he shall look for a woman to marry to make the household items complete. Then he becomes a little mantra which demands no less than a worship from his wife
If I say it wrong
Take it right honey
Add praise if you can
You are a woman
Don't challenge me
Excellence is mine
Brilliance is my domain
I am your man
Even if you have light
You must pretend dim
Be dark if you can
You are a woman
When high with pride
Don't steal my wind
Walk like a small cat
Drag not your feet
I am your man
I am your owner
A hefty dowry I paid
Where is my cow?
Very sadly, Abdi-Noor, your premise fits not only rural areas, but many metropolitan areas as well. If you changed your title to "Where is My Car?" it would sadly fit some urban men I know, too.
It is sad, but still true in many countries. YOu have an enlightened mind Abdi Noor, and a gentle godly heart and soul. Not many men feel the need to do things Creator's way. They stay with the status quo. Excellent poetic sharing.
Stunning! Yes Abdi, here too in India I am sad to say such notions do exist and not only in the backward rural areas but even in the so called "enlightened" metros of the country. Great write :-) Shoma

Yankee Doodle Daddy is a historical Appalachian Family Saga. The story follows a mother's reckoning as she struggles to survive and keep her four daughters alive.
Powerfully true, heartbreakingly sad...now if mankind will hear the message and act on it.
Well done, my brother!
(((HUGS))) and love, and many prayers, your sister, Karla.
