The month of Ramadan has begun in the Moslem world and I dedicate this short poem to this Holy Month. I appeal to all Moslems to refrain from war, be it killing each other on sectarian basis, or attacking non-Moslem communities in the world over. Doing so would only invite more negative and rather embarrassing comments about Islam which might jeopardize our relations with the wider world community. Islam means Peace or surrender to Allah, so its name must reflect the good image it stands for.
Ramadan has arrived in time
It is the Moslem Holy Month
I welcome it with great fervor
I fast the coming thirty days
I share hunger with the poor
Oh Ramadan I must greet you
My passion to you never ends
Physically you make me healthy
Spiritually you clean my heart
Morally you give me strength
