An excellent dscription of the evulution of abused women all over the world. Fergus got it wrong. It is not about religion. It is about power. Men are more powerful than women naturally. And in poverty-stricken families boys are the choice because they can contribute to the family's productivity, security and overall existance. A boy is the future for the survival of poor families. The continuation of this culture is encouraged by poverty, dictatorship, lack of education and backwardness in reasoning.
I hope we get rid of these backward practices one day.

Thank you Abdinoor once again for voicing your concern about gender abuse. This poem deserves to be part of the curriculum for those taking courses in Gender Studies. It gives an excellent picture of reality in many societies.

This is sad. I know in some parts of the world women are still treated a second class citizen. Sometimes, even pets live better lives than them.
