In Mogadishu there are a number of interest groups who oppose the recently installed government. Unknown militia hides behind the people and carry out armed attacks on government bases. Then they run away from the spot they had launched their attack. The government then give a more stern response to the culprits but only civilians will die in the attack as the attackers had already left the place. Yesterday the militia fired rockets against government bases but they missed target and instead hit innocent civilians who were struggling with the rigorous challenges of hard life in Mogadishu. Fear gripped the city as we expected that the government's lose canons will soon cough back some fire. Thank God, they didn't. If the militia rockets had reached them they would have launched an indiscriminate attack on the city in which more people would have perished. We are in a state of horror where two groups attack each other without showing any mercy to the poor and unarmed civilians who have been victimsed by war over a period of 16 years. If something is not done soon, Mogadishu will turn out to be a war cemetery of the century.

But it fell short of its prime target
Instead of hitting Government base
It had landed on a busy residential area
On the spot several people had died
Government did not respond as usual
On grounds that it did not reach them
Had the mortar attack killed their men
They would have fired back instantly
And civilians, not culprits would have died
In both ways it is the people who would perish
Not the armed groups who are fighting for power
With rockets they are playing ping-pong
While the city is their un-netted table tennis
