Today four government officials have been killed in Mogadishu while two media directors have lost their lives when one was murdered by gunmen and the other died in a bomb explosion planted on the roadside. The two directors, Mahad Ahmed Elmi and Ali Iman Sharmarke were both close friends of mine and I am afraid this is freedom of expression on fire. Freedom of speech has a voice of its own
One which reverberates in the winds of truth
And whose sound echoes in the air of wisdom
It is everybody’s right to write and speak freely
It is a right to express views without intimidation
Freedom of speech is an inalienable right
It is a power more powerful than any power
It is the mighty power of the people's power
It is a voice that protects the voice of the people
But it is a naked voice with no protection in Somalia
