25 April is the World Malaria Day and i dedicate this poem to that wonderful day and encourage health institutions to continue their war with the disease.
With pills we can kill but treatment is not a solution we better attack the enemy at the base. Let us destroy its breeding grounds. Prevention is a necessary measure to take to combat malaria. War with Malaria is a moral equivalent of war against terror. In every village of the malaria affected areas, let us find a model family that can take the lead of the war against malaria so that other families shall follow suit. Long live the International Day of Malaria
She is not my visitor
Not a friend either
Not a family member
Yet it lives with us
Feeds on us to its fill
It is that tiny insect
That creature of death
In english it is mosquito
In somali it is kaneeco
The Swedes call it a moskit
It is a living terror
A Terrorist-in-flight
Cruising in the dark
Droning with rage
Imposing danger
Attacking the family
Biting the young
Stinging the old
Injecting pain
Causing disease
Spreading Malaria
We have two ways to fight
Curative and preventive
We better fight at both ways
to deny enemy to escape
Let us seal off all routes
To all of the emerging, struggling nations of the world. Change your values from controlling and ruling to mercy and improvement in the quality of the lives of your most precious resources. Your people. Do battle with disease, ignorance and poverty. Jon Michael Willey
Quinine is an inexpensive pill that can save grief to millions of people, instead of buying nore guns, those governments should invest the money in quinine and Aids medicines, then again....
Malaria has been a disease we have been fighting against for decades, yet it is still prevelent in so many countries. Praise be the day when this too is one to read about rather than experience....
My gosh,,,when I watched American Idol gives back,, I was so sad to see the the children and families effected by this horrible disease... We must all do a part to help! Prayers for each one.

A very dreaded disease my friend. New medicines and cures are being discovered for different diseases every day. Perhaps one day we'll be able to wipe out many of these. Peace, Love and Blessings Always, Paul.
Good message in this, Abdi-noor. My daddy had malaria while in Korea in the fifties; he sometimes gets episodes of minor symptoms every few years; then in a few days he would be all better. Another friend of his had it too, and ended up in the hospital; he was quite popular with the doctors and nurses, because it wasn't very often when a patient would come in with it. I hope this war against this terrorist-in-flight is successful; this disease needs to be eradicated!! Very well written, Abdi-noor; bravo!
