In Somalia homosexuality is a crime so is Christianity. there is one more horrible human tragedy which is racism as some tribes like Midgan are regarded as subhumans not deserving to be respected like human beings. After the war people fled to Europe where people with these identities have found sanctuary. In this short write I depict how war is an evil that sometimes brings peace to people who lived in an invisible war when others living with them in the same country had peace.

They are three friends
Three happy friends
Living in a free land
Tasting fruits of peace
Enjoying democracy
One is a homosexual
Who in his country
Had no right be himself
But to hide behind fear

The Other is a Christian
Who in his own country
Had to live in terror
But found the shell broken
When fate had intervened
War made him a refugee
In a land of religious freedom

The third friend is Midgan
Who in his country of origin
People regarded him as an outcast
Never allowing him to mix with them
Denying him to marry their daughters
But has now came out from the cold
Enjoying freedom in full potential
Reclaiming his identity as a Midgan

They are three happy friends
Whose hearts open up with delight
When the light of freedom shines
They used to be victims of barbarism
Tortured behind the ramparts of abuse

Man's inhumanity to his fellow man. Is there a greater sin?

Friend Abdi-Noor, in this time and age? sure, did you know that the bombastically proclaimed "democracy" in India still practice racism? castes? outcast and undesirables?
If a "modern democracy" like India tolerate that kind of divisions, what can one expect from illiterate warlords in Somalia?
My heart aches for your country, but more for your people.

Georg

God bless them all for finding inner peace and acceptence. Hate is such a cruel part of all our lives and perhaps one day we will be better served to think love first....

Be always safe,
Karen

Powerfully penned sadness, Abdi-Noor - and yet, hope shines because these three got out - are they happy? Or do they mourn for those, left behind? One has to wonder -

(((HUGS))) love and prayer, Karla.

Brief but powerful poem. Hate, sadly, is universal. I am encouraged
by your line, "They are three happy friends." Gene.
