"Once a war is fought peace should come but not before hearts open to hearts" Abdi-Noor

Nagasaki held a memorial service for victims of the atomic bombing of the city, Tuesday. For the first time, the US sent a representative to join the memorial service. The Christian Science Monitor

Poem Artwork

The world is now edging to a new stage
As US attends Nagasaki memorial service
Marking the beginning of a modern world
Where mankind of all races and religion
Mourn for the victims of dark age wars
Forging alliance on a basis of humanity
As peace implants itself in the womb of love

I pray that it be so, Abdi-Noor. Thank you for sharing these apt and timely thoughts. Love and peace to you my friend,

A human tragedy for certain Abdi-Noor. Just as was the killing and wounding of 35 million innocent Chinese civilians at the hands of Japanese soldiers during World War II. The "rape of Nanking" was such a tragedy. 2.7 million Chinese civilians killed by Japanese soldiers. The people of Japan held a lantern march to celebrate Nanking's fall to Japanese troops. The killing of innocent Filipinos and natives at the hands of the Japanese war machine on many tiny islands of the Pacific. The bombing of Pearl Harbor. An unprovoked attack on American and Hawaiian citizens. Nagasaki remembers, and Americans, Filipinos, Chinese and many other nation's innocent victims remember too. Regardless of the tools of war employed. The needless, unprovoked loss of innocent peoples is a universal tragedy. In the case of Nagasaki we still must put everything into the correct perspective and remember who the aggressors were that led to such devastation. It was not the American people. I bid you love and peace my dear friend. Jon Michael

Some lovely thoughts in your poem, Abdi-Noor. I only hope they come to be true. Your country is such a tragic country and it seems the women and children suffer the most. Laurel

If only this could be so, world-wide - what a wonderful world it might be.
