I perceive the poem 'African bee' differently(with due apologies to Abdi-Noor).It simply denotes the categories of people, problems and the exploiters of the African people even within Africa.Due to lack of time and space I cannot say much. All I can say is that It's a very beautiful work.

There is an old superstition in England (UK) that whenever something new takes place within the family, the bees should be told of it first. Since most people don't keep beehives in their gardens now, it is a custom that has probably died out! I always treat Bees with respect!! Nice poem.

The gathering of honey is tricky if one has not conquered the fear of the sting. Great poem!

I have read much about the African Bee, it was used in experiments to "better" the western bee for better honey production, instead it produced a vicious killer bee. Your poem is wonderful, and much needed for many forget the risks that others take to put the food in their mouths, the clothes on their backs and the money in their bank account. Thank you for reminding me, and others.

bees scare me, abdi-noor. i see one flying around me, and i am looking for cover, or else i am swatting at it with my crutch! (NOT the best thing to do; the little sucker could get me for sure!) and i would especially hate to meet an AFRICAN KILLER bee! those things are vicious, i hear; and i have NO desire to meet one in person! good write about an unpleasant insect with a knack for being *NASTY* if provoked! love, your new friend, karen lynn.
