Great write, but i'm worried about you Sara! You have been down on yourself lately quite a lot.This is a fine poem and I hope Jerry is right there is hope at the end of the river.
Very introspective look at the life and ways of your inner self and how it has affected you. Well written with strong images that force us to reflect on our own ways as well.

Sometimes we must pay the price with our "river of screams" to make bad things disappear. I particularly liked the river of screams as opposed to the river of tears. Had ya thinking cap on dere, m'lady.

Sara, I read this one several times. It seems very somber at first, but there's also a sense of release and relief at the end. I always appreciate when someone can present thoughts and emotions that are common to everyone, but expressed in a way that gives a new perspective. I don't know if I am expressing it well, but to me that is the very heart of creativity. Even though there is really nothing new under the sun, there can be new ways of looking at everything. You've done that very nicely with this poem.
A further collection of poems, many from years in the Middle East, but also the California San Francisco and Central Coast areas (Santa Cruz, Carmel, Big Sur, Berkeley, etc.).
