It doesn’t surprise me that Josie is a produce maven
I have an interesting story to tell about produce haven
One day my company had a thought
That we needed to find those who bought
Our trays and bowls and plastic crystal things
So off I went to the Produce Marketing Show on wings
I set up my booth, 200 square feet of wares
Surrounded by fruits and veggies and a whole lot of stares
The buyers kept passing me by
As all day long I did nothing but shoo away flies
There they were sampling melons and lettuce and berries so ripe
While my stuff just looked like tripe.
After 4 days I packed up my booth
Making sure I always was pleasant and showed the utmost couth
A few days while back at the office my telephone rang
It was the people from the Produce Marketing Stand
They asked how my show went as they were from produce headquarters
And I said “well we were kind of like a fish out of water”
So this is what they said and I still cannot believe it is true
They offered to refund all of my money so that I wouldn’t be blue
Now I have to tell you as I really really know
Because I go to a lot of trade shows
They are a business just like everything else
They never offer to refund your money no matter how much of a mess
So in my book it now says with an astound
Produce people are the best most honorable people around
I was reminded of this experience after reading Josephine Wooten's poem titled "maka da hay" and felt compelled to share it with all of you.
what a great story! and honestly i am not surprised. there is something to be said for integrity. of course there are your bad apples (no pun intended) but for the most part you are absolutely correct "produce people rock"
