Vapor Dreams

Struggling through another restless night

I ferociously toss the covers away

With my pillow I wipe away my tears

And wonder if I’ll ever find the path

That leads me back to you

My darling I have surpassed

So many detours on that road

Of broken down dreams

With giant potholes

That I wonder

Where was that turn I missed?

So now

In the darkness

Illuminated by vapor screens

And pipe dreams

I pull out my invisible map

Graffitied in yellow highlighter

I trace a new route

Who knows

Maybe I’ll get lucky

And you’ll be hitch-hiking

My way

Sara~

You are without a doubt on a roll. I really love the images. Perhaps we have bumped in that darkness, as your words echo in my head.

Maybe.
You never know. Don't expect too much from life and let it suprise you.
Just follow your path and give other hitch-hikers a chance as well.

Sara it's not safe to pick up hitch-hikers.

Love the sad writes, it's good to get them out of your system.

Hi Sara.
My first wife a lovely girl whom after our divorce, I met again briefly at my daughters wedding, obviously under the influence of wedding toasts and sherries, and in a moment of alcoholic remorse, said to me in a moment of acute mental intensity, that if I had only done certain things everything would have been wonderful.

Myself never having been described, as lacking logic, said quite casually, then why did you just not tell me what was on your mind
.
Her considered reply was quite remarkable, “No! You are supposed to know these things.”

Twenty years down the line, I was still pondering the acuity of those remarks.
Never mind I will get there yet.

Sara.. who hasn't 'been there'?.. BUT.. your clever, melancholic writing blends a familiar feeling with an entirely fresh delivery.. you write with such truth, yet you wrap me with a closeness only a wonderful poet can give.. this is a great piece! love, katy xox.

That what you have to do, just get out the old "romance" map and charter new and different courses. He is out there, no doubt about it.
