Starry Flight

Poem Artwork

Interspersed with night blooming jasmine
I shed a tear, starved from a natural world famine
Breathing in the crisp highly scented air
I am reminded once again how life is unfair

Thoughts, memories of childhood adorations
An endless array of my favorite constellations
Standing here where the city blocks out the night
A universe of stars fall far, far out of sight

Milky Way, come wrap your illumination round my history
Drape me in your mythical cosmic mystery
Take me to another place, another time
Transport me to the mountains, some other clime

Show me the world as it really should be
Take me away from all of this artificiality

Fourteen lines, but it isn't a sonnet. Interesting. The grass is always greener on the other side of the hill,
and life always seems to cage us at one time or another. The main thing you have to remember is that
you are the arbiter of your own destiny, and you will have to decide when or if you choose to move on. If
you are depending on somebody else to do it for you, you should be very sure of this person. Otherwise,
where you end up will be no better, and maybe worse.
