Only but strangers can walk on the air,

With no foot to the earth that is heard,

Just like a ghost when you feel him around,

Sometimes their chains are all that is found;

Moving on stairways that lead to the heart,

Chanting desires than quickly departs,

Only but strangers can walk on the air,

And take what is lovely while touching your hair.

Their always around, waiting in nights,

To trace what they've lost,

Once more to taste life!

Though only your ghost knows my real name,

When it brushed on my skin,

And felt all my flames;

Rousing and pushing inside of my soul,

Tasting the drops on my lips,

Walking on ground where they bury the dead,

Sweeping the dust from my head.

Only a stranger can walk on the air,

But my lover will join me alive,

Knowing that life here is promised to none,

And won't wait while It sits at your side!

I know what its like to fly with a ghost,

To give what is sacred to undeserved host,

I've loved the unlovely,

I've wrote it all down,

In my lost book of shadows,

Buried deep in the ground.

Only but strangers can walk on the air,

with no foot to the earth to be heard,

Just like your ghost that loved me so right,

Then flew through my heart like a bird!

As if someone who lost their love found someone else's lost love...and for a moment they comforted each other.

This poem is deserving much more than a single reading, Michelle. To me, there is so much here to think about; the meaning "behind" the words. Thank you for sharing this meaningful offering. Love and best wishes to you,

Regis

Wow! Your words paint a clear picture of something so illusive it seems like a faint dream. I can truly relate to this. What a powerful poem.
