That Old Rocking Chair

I wrote this about my grandma who was and still is near and dear to my heart. I love and miss you grandma.

Sitting so proudly on that old farmhouse porch
Is the meaning of life and oh so much more

I remember seeing my grandma when I was a child
Without a care on her face, it all seemed so mild

A gentle breeze crosses her brow and things were all right
Almost ready to settle down for the night

But still she sits rocking in that old rocking chair
I remember her brushing her beautiful gray hair

I remember grandmas’ aprons that she wore every day
The smile on her face and all she would say

Her feet hit the floor soon as the sun showed its face
Now my grandma’s gone, but she is still in this place

I can still see grandma sitting in that old rocking chair
Staring up at the heavens and saying a prayer

I remember seeing my grandma; drink her coffee and pause
As though pondering her life, and knowing its cause

But the one thing that sticks out in my head and I share
Is the memory of my grandma in that old rocking chair
