Yesterday, when they saw
their neighbor’s sister
raped in the broad daylight Sun,
they thought it was funny.
But today, when they saw
their own sister
raped under the moonlight,
the smiles went from their faces,
and they became fired with wrath.
Such is the tragic state
of Nepal, now, my friends,
and whatever definition
we may give to these
horrendous social decomposition -
I could not refrain from crying.

i too share your tears. when will there be an end to brutality. your poem portrays the tradgedy. how can people be so inhuman, do they not have mothers and sisters of their own? so many unanswered questions as to why does this happen and how can we prevent it from reoccuring.
The world has gone mad in the hands of our inept leaders--begin
the tally with Bush--and there appears to be no reason for HOPE
in sight...Nepal is but a microcosm of a growing global crisis.
Worse still, such cycles of greed-driven inhumanity will
seemingly never end.
I admire your strength of political conscience, Bhuwan.

This just eats away at the soul, Bhuwan. To live in such a moral-less and lawless society would be both tragic and frightening. For anyone to think it is ok to laugh at a rape is something I can't wrap my mind around. It is just wrong, I don't care where you live or who you are. Heartbreaking!

Dear Bhuwan, the picure and your words moved me to tears. What kind of men are these? I can't say, so deep is some men's hatred of women. Is this the next evolution of the species I often wonder.
