Two people share a life together
Husband and wife for fifty eight years
Five children they did raise
Eight grandchildren they enjoy
Always putting their children first
They share good times and bad
Traveled while they were able
When in retirement you have more free time
Each and everyday spent together
When you see one you see the other
Over the years there wasn't anything they couldn't do
Now she is eighty he is eighty-nine
Their health not the best
A pacemaker keeps him going
Leukemia slows her down
Eye sight failing just for her, he is blind in one eye
He is her eyes, to read, to clean to cook, to guide her when she walks
Yet their inseperable
Tonight her back hurts from a fall
As he rubs ointment on her back tears begin to fall
Every bone so defined he can feel
She asks why are you putting water on my back
He stops and looks at her
I'm not putting water on your back
Those are my tears, I can't hold them back
Embraced in each others arms tears they both share
A love so rare and special they both do share
