Rebecca, a fat angel
with Shirley Temple hair
I train my artist's eye
- sfumato leonardo -
on her divine grace;
dimple-cheeked
and solemn-faced,
plump figure
dropped from heaven.
She likes the way
Scottish people say girl
and squirrel
Ah, you've seen too many hamburgers, gurl!
Rebecca, a young Hitchcock,
setting the table for lunch
my next production
will be French onion soup
singing a song from the musical, Rent
an update of La Boheme
the high note she hits at the end
could shatter glass
and send Norman Bates
running for his mother.
THIS IS AN ABSOLUTE KEEPER IN THE FINEST BAEZ FASHION, KEN!! Totally DOES IT for me! That first stanza is just MWAH... estupendo... and, have to say, I'm with Rebecca in terms of the "tingle" factor of the soft, single gutteral voicing of those words, too. Reckon her Hamburger Heaven would be a delightful place for those free spirits who are not shy of giving the inner (wo)man full expression. Hope you've got your paintbrush out, Ken... now have visions of Jack painting Rose in Titanic... she were rather ample, too. You bring much beauty into the eyes of your beholders here, Darlin... makes me want to pinch a few cheeks!! :)) Kheeky Kate xx
This one's toasted buns! Two all-beef patties that'll make ya cry over the onion wedgie! Rebecca is cognizant of her love of burgers and Scottish brogue...where would we be without either one? I doubt the world could survive on squirrels and French onion soup. This one is well done, Kenny. You know I appreciate your written word and humor.
Mary Angela Nangini's poems celebrate the richness of life and love. From the city to cottage-country and the roads in between, Nangini explores the changing seasons of her varied region. (This book will soon be reprinted in hard cover.)

Thanks Kenny..

Outstanding, wit and artful... "Rebecca" takes the reader to an orchestra's first row center seat, and makes him feel the action on the stage.
Keep posting, Poet.
