Alone in a hostel praying so hard.
Let my baby be okay.
Platelet’s low, IV is needed, so she doesn’t fade.
Exhausted mom. A few hard days, already passed me by.
I pray leukemia isn’t inside this tiny baby of mine.
Everything happened quickly.
A needle in her bone.
Drawing out the marrow.
I didn’t think she’d know.
Tears were falling down her cheeks.
She lost her breath with pain.
Her tears crushed my entire soul.
She doesn’t need this pain.
I was new to being a mom.
Learning as I go.
But one thing that I always knew.
I loved my baby so.
Love lifted us up.
The cancer specialist dashed ,
out the door so swift.
Looking for the answers for my tiny little gift.
He didn’t wait for the lab, to do the test results.
Instead to ease our heartache, he tested it himself.
He gave the wonderful news. no leukemia in her bones.
But there was still an uncertainty
why her platelet’s were so low.
She stayed on IV awhile.
A steroid boosted them up.
She’s not in danger now.
And love still lifts us up.

P.S. When my daughter was one year old she had a lump that over a six month period continued to grow and grow. The doctors kept telling me it would go away and continued to pump her with antibiotics until one morning when she awoke the lump had blistered almost like the inside of her face was turned outside. We rushed back her to PA as we were living in NJ at the time. The ENT specialists here said it was a extremely infected lymph node that was dead and ready to burst from the inside out. Gabriella was immediately hospitalized but they were afraid to do the surgery because she had spiked suddenly a fever of 103' and was having asthmatic spasms which would hamper the breathing tube they wanted to insert into her throat during the surgery. They also told me that because of the size the infected lymph node had grown to there would be a possibility of facial nerve damage, ie that side of her face would possibly always droop and she might not be able to smile and etc...I told them I did not care about any of it, I just wanted my healthy playful daughter back and my love for her and in her was all the faith I needed to know all would be alright. The doctors looked at me kind of crazy, but agreed to do the surgery right away...to this day now she is normal 100%, smiles and all...just a nasty scar as a reminder!
Blessings to you and yours!
