He can see the trouble etched in my skin,
Only because he knows all the right places to look,
“It’s not that time has been telling on you,
But what have you done,
To the most fragile thing I’ve ever known?”

When I thought I was so good at keeping away.
I was a fool to think I could escape you.
Only energy saved to bite back the tears,
That I don’t deserve to cry.

I wasn’t prepared to see you then,
Most strangers look into the pale view.
He chose the eyes.
They say more than the skin shall show.
So hypnotic in its beauty.

Just two broken toys that needed to be fixed.
One drop of rain and we can turn to dust.
And I’m counting on you to hold my place in time.
Because if I don’t feel your hand,
I will be lost forever.

The whole world watched as you crumbled beside me.
Humbled by silent fascination for every line of human form,
Reduced to nothing.
And I’m visibly shaken by the very thought of you,
This close to me.

Mariah, your ability to convey the inner emotions of the heart bade well in this piece. I liken it to a pastel drawing of life that crumbles with such ease....well done
