THE WAY OF TUGS- FOR MY SON

Remember the days, of innocent ways, you thought would never end?
I remember the time, when you were all mine, and we would play pretend
We'd build our castle in the sky, and you were a knight of old
Or dive into the ocean deep, imagining it cold

Remember when you thought I knew the answer to all your questions?
We'd talk about THIS-THAT-AND-THOSE, avoiding schoolish lessons
Remember the songs, we'd sing at dinner, while everything grew cold?
And when you took off with your friends into the woods so bold?
You knew no fear, my little one, life was your adventure
Your heart was open to the world, I shared with you tho censored

I guess you don't remember things, the way I do today
But thats OK, because your grown, and see things your own way
But now that you are leaving, these memories tug at me
And make me wonder where times gone....And what is yet to be

I love you MY son

Please say a prayer for peace.

My son is off to the  Afghanistan Tomrrow

(If you child wants to enlist......DON'T LET THEM!)

Deeply moving and gutwrenching write, Anita, pricking the eyes with tears and stabbing any mother's heart with pain. My love and prayers are with you and your son - and you have made personal the plight of all the others so involved of whom we should be equally aware. Thank you for the cost of sharing this. On another level, this poem also highlights the sense of loss that we can feel once our little ones have spread their wings, and the disbelief that time has likewise also flown! There is no greater gift we can receive than to be custodians of young and developing lives, and no greater gift that they can give to us as parents than the sense of a job well done. The demonstration that this is the case often manifests in their vigorous quest for independence and adventure; whether they go voluntarily or not into the face of such potential danger makes the letting them go no less easy. You will be mutually strengthened by the courage and fortitude of each other, I am sure. Bless you both. XX Kate xx

Your son, like other mother's sons, are brave men. In time of war some perform admirably, some not. I, not being a mother can't know why you would say (If you child wants to enlist......DON'T LET THEM!) and I have said a prayer for his safe return to you.

Anita, It's time like these that a Mother replays all the wonderful joys of their children in their minds and hearts.
Although I know it's going to be hard on you to watch him pack away his childhood and be off to places such as Afghanistan, he at the same time is unpacking his adulthood. I realize that doesn't make it any easier on Mom!
When you said " If your child want to enlist, Don't let them" well, in all reality we both know if they really want to, we can't stop them, we can only try and make them see things from our point of view.
My point of view is that he could have been out on the streets daring life in a drive by shooting..but instead he has chosen to defend his country. And You.
This is a most touching write Anita. You've raised a good Son..

(((lady a)))

a thousand (((((((HUGS)))))))) and a thousand prayers--beautiful, powerful poem you've written with a mother's tears

it's fine upstanding citizens like our sons and daughters, fathers and mothers, in the military who are my heroes. they choose to enlist and face fear head on and i cannot thank them enough for their courage, and for preserving our freedom.

i pray for you courage, and salute you for being a military mom. that takes a whole new brand of courage.

i will pray for his safe return (what's his name?) and for strength for the journey for you. if you EVER need to write, lady a, i'm as close as the message board--i will answer. :) (((((((HUGS)))))))

and more (((HUGS))) and love, karla. :(
