There is a slowness in affairs which ripens them, and a slowness which rots them. Joseph Roux

TO RIPEN, TASTE, AND FEED

For I the poet, have but words,
To harvest from my soul
As from the fertile fields I reap,
The seasons I have known

I've tilled, and planted, seed by deed,
And prayed on knees for rain
Then blight befell my efforts dear....
And made it all in vain

The field is bleak and barren now
As winds now mock my loss
Abandoned by the hoe and plow
No fruitage yield across

For what I set within this earth
Was all that I received
For I the poet....have but words
To ripen, taste......and feed

Lady A - I adore this incredible poem! And I'm inspired by it:

I've fed myself upon your vine
of words, my heart they do entwine
my rapture ripened by the taste
to feed again I will make haste

please accept my thanks for sharing it.
warm reagrds,
Anthony

very traditional british feel to this poem, and you a Latin, too! Less Lorca than Keats but we love you for your metamorphic qualities Lady A. What an image to go with the slowness, too! sloe black slowness, slow down and you shall be mistress of all you survey. :)

The laws of sowing and reaping stand eternal, and there is no blight here to rot your bountiful harvest: your words are a true feast! A wonderful analogy - words ARE truly like seed-bearing fruit which are capable of edifying or destruction. Hungry bellies may have no ears, but hungry souls always do! Masterfully crafted rhymes and verses - loved it! Kate xx
