I was reading the book "Wicked" a few weeks back, about the wicked witch of the west, its a broadway play I have not yet seen....but intend to...
One of the first scenes of the book describes the witch flying a mile over Emerald City...and I thought to myself as I read this....Imagine if I could be a mile above my life, and look at it with a different attitude/altitude lol

ALTITUDE ADJUSTMENT
A mile above my circumstance
Just east of indecision
Rotating on a gust of thought
I met my own collision!
BAM!
The power of strength that clutched me Made my compass twist and spin Whilst heading north of nowhere
I spiraled on the winds
Cradled in a cyclone
It rocked me to and fro
A whirlwind for the witless
I saw my life below
In flashes fast against the night
Sharp slices knifed the dark
As thunder boomed and thought typhooned
I slid down heaven's arc
Into this womb of silence
Untouched was I by storm
In the center of this hurricane
I found myself....reborn

Great introspection,and a mile above(figuratively) one's circumstances is the ideal place to be to get answers:Not too close nor too far away.

In the eye of the storm, quiet and untouched by the whirling winds around us. Love the bird's eye view wisdom of this write and the dragon pics in the link! I was born in the year of the Dragon. The witch in the photo above looks like she's using her arms as a sail, maybe her broom needs a tune-up, lol. (Good, you're staying! Now I can eat that cookie, Anita) Perfect rhythm and beautifully written...
Amazing write and an amazing subject that perhaps we should all contemplate and look a new at our lifes and how we live them. We tend to get ourselves in ruts and the blame is always cast outwards when perhaps we should be looking inward. Thanks for opening eyes held shut.
Fantastic poem, Anita. It is a good idea to periodically stand back and take a hard look at our life; check on our direction and our attitude and make necessary modifications.
