Just a few minutes ago I caught the last five minutes of a talk show on the internet, hosted by Debbie Ford, one of those life coaches. It was about self esteem and sabatage, and in that few minutes, I got so much out of it, and was inspired to write this quickie. She is so smart!!!

Yes Anita, these are the choices we must make for ourselves. Self doubt is something we all face, but equipped with our knowledge of past mistakes and adopt the right point of view, we can avoid the sabotage. Great insight!

A nice work on the subject of self esteem, something I worked on for many years with many students within the Martial Arts, teaching one to have self confidence and self esteem and then being able to see it grow within so many was a real joy for me....

Haunt self esteem, as a phantom in lodge
Self - doubt is indeed a marauding, sabotaging, negative trait, a psychological pirate invading the steady waters of self - esteem. If we surrender to the cutlas of its self depleting thrusts we become galley slaves in the lowest deck of self - confidence. Many of us know the mental whiplash of this enslavement only too well. It's within our grasp to skuttle self - doubt and sabotage; to make the choice to resist or surrender. Indeed, to sup at the barren table of a shack or at the sumptuous life fulfilling table of an estate. Who would choose the former?
Never has a "quickie" said so much and delved so deeply, amiga - more than many long pondered, "chewed on", written and re-written musings. And, speaking about musings... if the muse, here (Debbie Ford) seems to have been powerful, me feels that the poet (you) was - is - the truly clever and strong one. You looked, right in the face, at a theme - self-esteem - that most will address "sideways", especially their lack thereof, thus becoming their own very worst saboteurs. Yes, we're not perfect, and need to learn to love ourselves not in spite of that, but because of that. This was a delight to read, my friend. Stay strong and beautiful!

I agree with Paul, Anita, in regard to choices and following our own minds, but I don't deny there are saboteurs along the way who do their best to dissuade us under the guise of love or friendship. This is an outstanding poem and your inspiration took wings. I loved digging into this.
