A beautiful woman should break her mirror early.......Gracian

~~A Woman's Tale~~

From the day that we are born
Newly innocent,without scorn
With the first airs on our skin
Fickle fortune does begin

Cradled as the fairer sex
So genteel and uncomplex
Society's labels firmly pressed
On our psyche's like a crest

Does it matter, what you know?
As you reach a high plateau?
Accomplish feats beyond the norm?
To change the world where you were born?

Choices made and battles fought
Survival instincts......deep of thought
World kept on an even keel
While strutting on stiletto heels

Education............ politics,
Baby bottles won't conflict
Taken all straight to the heart
Resulting in a fresh new start

I am woman, hear me roar
Soft as petals, yet hard core
I am the earth, my tears the rain
My body choices...... public domain

Yet when all is seen and done
The progress made,the battles won
We see our faces with fine lines
And fear we're so far........ from...... divine

Anita,
I love the way you blend all these characteristics. Reading this reminds me of the movie "Steel Magnolias" - for how strong the 'fairer' sex really is. We seem to be able to juggle many things without missing a step. Love the flow here, too. Hugs,
Sheila

Damn, I love the way you write. We're very similar, expression-wise. Thanks for the review of don't leave me , love. Just playing around. I really want you to read my best: Long Gone Love, Willow, Old Souls and Journey. Review me when you can. You'll see what I mean by our similarity. The source is great- solid and from a woman who can really think. No flattery from me. I'll be reading you, but must beat a few guys around the world in chess, first. Thanks- Jerry

This is the line of all time right here:
" I am woman, hear me roar "
Man, this is my catch phrase! I feel strife, bitterness and a VERY loud voice in this. It is the voice of all women. This is beautiful. I grovel.

Thanking you,

Teresa

It's all a question of mind. Learn to accept the things you cannot change. Liked the sentence super girl wrote: We are not getting old, just ripe. Great Poem. S.

Off to my library does this go! One of your best, I think. Every verse has power and your writing goes from strength to strenght.

Dear Anita,
This was some really outstanding work. You flavor the piece well....and show what women must endure sometimes to play the role that society expects of them.

I loved this poem. The flow was excellent. How true the many roles a woman must play today. We are more than a pretty face.

This is so true and the writing is absolutely fantastic!!!

I complained to a younger man I like very much one day that I felt old and he said to me, "you're not old, you are ripe." I will never forget what he said.

hauntingly nice......thanks for the reminder...ladyA....My mirror is my only "real" enemy!! But my gyno told me to switch the light off..if I am making love....and I must avoid sitting on top unless I want to smack the man in his face with the swinging objects.....and never look at myself in the mirror without my make-up....I must just look at the area where I am busy applying my age defying creams...
And look only at the end result...and I will always feel good about myself....hehehehe..I think it was very good advice from him...Goodluck with those swinging objects..

Love
