Poem Artwork

Centre of all centres, core of cores --

A plum stone is self-enclosed and

Growing sour-sweet --

Unbounded universe to the furthest stars

And even beyond them

Is its combined result, its astringent pulp.

There is not a thing that is not that,

And there is not a thing that is not this.

If we look at something from this point,

We do not see it; only if we look at it

From the knowing point we do know it.

Therefore, that a view comes from this,

And this view is a result of that,

Which is the theory that that view and this

Are the opposite views indeed

That produce each other alternately.

They both find their point of conformity

Which is known as the pivot of all reasons.

As soon as we have found this pivot

We stand in the core of the ring of thoughts

Where we can respond without end

To the constantly changing circumferences.

We can respond without end to those

Affirming and to those denying views.

Therefore it is said that there's nothing

Like the proper place we take before

Making our course -- and this place

Is the core of Mind -- the best point

Of departure for every single startup!

The wise is he who views things

In the light of his own inherent abilities

And intuitive nature, forming his judgment

Of what he sees before his eyes. Now

You feel how the emptiness clings to you.

Your pivot plum stone, so vastly swollen,

Reaches into the endless way, and there

The rich and thick fluids rise and flow,

Illuminating your infinite peacefulness

Within the measure of immeasurable space.

Bravo! Odin, you've royally got to the core of the doctrine now, saying in so many words like an ancient master who has climbed down from his peak in the deep mountains after forty years of comprehension and who finally realized the fact that the stone is the softest substance but the pulp solid to produce the proper security for both called 'a peel,' which is the child of its parents, the former two. This is the scheme, according to which the planet Earth exists till today. Again, I appreciate your standpoint. Cheers, alex

A metaphoric treatise supporting the concept that thinking is not enough. One needs to access his or her critical thinking modality in order to know the pulp from the stone and dare take a position on which is the greater value. Just as one cannot know white without understanding a black dot, so too your positing:

Your pivot plum stone, so vastly swollen,

Reaches into the endless way, and there

The rich and thick fluids rise and flow,

Illuminating your infinite peacefulness

Within the measure of immeasurable space.

You've created a matrix of ideas that deserve re-reading often. Thank you.

Nature reveals insights if we care to notice. I think you have done so here. John

I think you've gotten to the pith (pit?) of the matter.

Ron.
