Poem Artwork

Each season has

Its ending and beginning;

Each age has

Its change and transformation;

Misery and happiness

Regularly alternate.

Here our views

Are thwarted, and yet

The result may

In the aftermath

Have our approval.

There we insist

On our own opinions,

And looking at things

Differently from others,

Try to correct them,

While we are

In error ourselves.

As a saying runs,

'What comes from outside

Cannot be defined in advance.'

Superiors all wish

Their subordinates to be faithful,

But that faithfulness

May not secure their confidence.

Parents all wish

Their children to be filial,

But that filial duty

May not secure their love.

With so many ways we humans manage to screw things up in the area of love and care remains one my most troubling conundrums. Thank you for this brief glimpse of what mankind needs more of.

Life would be a bore if every day was the same. Change is what life is about.

We all have misery and happy in equal proportion. And, we cannot foretell the happy or not or whether those we gather around us will be loyal. It is something we continually work at in order for it to work.

Ah yes, opposites continually in play, never fulfilled (thank God), and always on the move. That is the life of this world. I like your comment "filial duty may not secure their love." How true. John

"Misery and happiness
Regularly alternate." Sometimes life is like a roller coaster ride. Wonderfully written!

Love ya!
