Some say that in the very beginning
There was nothingness and, by and by,
There came to life, and in a little time
Life was succeeded by death.
That's why by taking a regular course
Of non-being, we long for viewing
The implicit incipience of things; and
By taking a regular course of being,
We crave for observing
The explicit completion of everything.
In the sense, I hold that nothingness
Was the head, life I liken to the spine
And death the coccyx. But with those
Who acknowledge that the being
And non-being, death and life
Are all under the One-Time-Keeper,
We are certainly the bosom friends.
Always,
Deborah
