Just What is a "Living" Will?
Is it as Opposed to a "Dead" Will?
A "Last Will & Testament"
Was always the "Proper" "Legal" Term Historically.
I Suppose that by "General" Usage Today,
It means a Statement of "What" to Do,
If and When you are Mentally or Physically Defunct,
But... You Ain't Quite "DEAD" Yet!
Perhaps an Instruction to your Family and Friends
Of just What to Do with the "Corpus Delecti" ...
When your Wonderful Body ...
Is No Longer So "Delectable?"
According to The Encarta World English Dictionary:
Delectable - an Adjective Means:
1. With a Delicious Taste.
2. Absolutely Delightful, Very Pleasing, or Very Attractive!
Now... Just Think About It a Minute...
That "Temple" of Yours is Now a Mite Decrepit! Another Adjective:
1. In Poor Condition, Especially Old, Overused, or
Not Working Efficiently.
2. With Strength Lessened by the Effects of Age
( Archaic or Humorous )
DUH ?
So... Let us "Examine" That Word "Living" ...
For Purposes of this Particular Treatise ...
Let us Jump to the Last Noun Meaning:
3. Quality of Life or the Way in Which it is Lived!
You are probably "Bed-Ridden" ...
Can't Speak! Can't Communicate!
Can't Wiggle a Toe or Finger!
Can't Even "Blink" an Eyelid!
Mayhaps You Are Actually "Comatose"?
Another very clear Adjective:
1. In a Coma.
2. In a Very Tired or Drunken State ( informal ).
Lets "Face" It ...
If You Were Merely 'DRUNK" ...
In a Day, or Two, or Ten ...
You Would Definitely Wake Up ...
( and Communicate a F**king Headache )!
So... If the Former State of Comatoseness?
( Gee, Ma ... Did I just "Coin" a Word? )
Is, in Fact, the "Status Quo" ...
Then, By George ... "QUALITY" is "Long Gone"!
Oh, To Be Sure, There Are Those Who ...
Fearing the 'Pearly Gates" or The "Fires of Hell"
Might "Choose" to "Linger"
These "Brave" or "Stalwart" Souls Would NOT Have Any "Living Will"!
But... As For Me ...
I'm Not So "Stout-Hearted'!
"PUT A FORK IN ME ... I'M DONE!"
"Dad ... You Mean You Want Us to Pull the Plug?"
YEP !!!
"Uncle Tom ... Are You Sure?"
YEP !!!
"READ MY LIPS!"
IF ... I Am a "Vegetable" and I Can't ...
Communicate ...
Drink My Own Coffee ...
"Wipe" My Own "Butt" ...
Do Crossword Puzzles ...
Shoot Pool ...
Be Independent ...
Drive My Own Car ...
As Yul Brenner Often Said, in 'The King and I" ...
'Et Cetera ... Et Cetera ... Et Cetera ..."
THEN:
1. PULL THE PLUG!
2. CREMATE MY SORRY OLD ARSE!
3. HAVE A GREAT PARTY OR "WAKE"!
4. "EAT, DRINK, AND BE MERRY ... FOR TOMORROW YE MAY DIE!"
5. REMEMBER SOMETHING "NICE" ABOUT ME!
In Conclusion:
The Following Quotation Has Always 'Stuck' With Me ...
It Is From Shakespeare's Play "Julius Caesar" ...
Marc Anthony's Soliloquy:
"Friends, Romans, Countrymen,
Lend Me your Ears ...
I Come to Bury Caesar ... Not to Praise Him.
The Evil that Men Do is Oft' Interred with their Bones,
The Good Lives After Them ...
So Let It Be With Caesar!"
For Any and All 'Evil' Things That I Have Said or Done,
That Offended Anyone ...
I Do Sincerely Apologize!
"To Err Is Human ... To Forgive ... Divine!"

I am Neither Despondent, Nor Distressed, in Any Way ...
Today is a Beautiful Day Here in Downtown Balwmer!
Am Looking Forward to Shooting Pool ( 8-Ball ) Tonite.
Just Had to Loose The Muse's Juices n' Capture These Thoughts.
Can "Morbidity" Be Over-Shadowed By ...
"Stupidity" ... And/Or "Humidity"? ...
Or ... Maybe It's Just The "Heat"?
DUH? I Wonder!
"Good-Night, Mrs. Callabash ...
Wherever You Are!"
Parting Words of Jimmy Durante!
Perhaps it should be re-named "A Living WON'T." This is cool, gave me a chuckle and made me think at the same tuime. My sentiments are the same as yours and have been aptly communicated.
Hope tyhings are going well in Bawlmer. From your bud in Manch Vegas, Cow Hampsha...
I've completed my Living Will - I've instructed Mean Tall Woman to cremate me and put my ashes in the kitty litter boxes - our cats will get a kick out of that.
PS: Old Jersey Devil Ed just did his Living Will, too - you get his prized 50-year old collection of dirty Jockeys - I think he really likes you!
All that research, while damn familiar, was a blast! On that vegetable list I eat about two thirds of them every day. My big worry is, while I've told everybody and his brother to pull the plug early, chop me up for transplants and research, burn the rest and don't put up any markers anywhere where the answers are spread, somebody will ignore that and spend thousands on caskets and “hallowed” ground.
That old philosophical conundrum about the tree is wrong. It is man centric and egotistical to think that the only sounds are heard by humans when almost every damn animal, bird, lizard, fish, and probably insect has ears and can hear the tree falling and definitely hear the crash it makes when it hits the ground––a conundrum solved.
Aside from a reversal in your Marc Antony quote (should be 'the evil that men do lives after them; the good is oft interred with their bones') I absolutely love this and echo your edict. For all that's good and kind don't leave me to moulder in a bed! Pull the damned plug, cremate the remains and drink a toast to the life I led!
Also, as usual, I adore your tongue-in-cheek delivery. Morbidity, stupidity, humidity. Lovely and definitely made me grin. And, since you took Jimmy Durante, I'll quote The Spaniels. "Goodnight, Sweetheart, well it's time to go." Hugs, darlin'
This was fun to read! I hope you did well playing 8-Ball. Awwwww! I used to wait for Jimmy Durante to step into those lighted areas as he closed the show and say that! Nice memory. Thanks!
The second book in the telepathy series. It contains more ways for the up and coming telepathist to experiment with the sending and receiving of thoughts and is at the end of the story about future telepathy people found unexpectedly chosen by the go

It never was about a “talking” tree, anyway.
