The Sap run is over,

The last drop has been boiled.

Time now to celebrate

Another sweet seasons end.

The sweet syrup is boiled down

 to even thicker consistencies

and the candies are made

that look like brown sugar shells

 and hearts and sheaves of wheat

and maple leaves.

The best part is yet to come,

 the leather aprons.

The thick hot syrup

Poured on bowls

Of newly fallen spring snow

Becomes like taffy.

What better closing

Could there be for another

Sweet Seasons end?
