Fire And Water

Orange flames

Slash the night sky,

Hissing and roaring,

Destroying

The lives and possessions

Of those

Who reside there.

 

Orange flames

Flicker and flutter

And spit and spurt

dying a slow death

As the water

Hits them,

Slowly destroying

Their lives

And there is nothing

Left but rubble and smoke

And steam.

Ouch! This touches a cord in me and am thankful that the fire in my home, in may, 2001 did not kill anything but a couple dreams and a few decades of my precious notebooks. This hurt enough.
