One small tear in a screen
One quilt stuffed between the window
And the screen to cover the tear
Until it could be repaired
Add one large black cat
Badly in need of a nap.
The screen tears,
The quilt slides
The cat glides
On his flying quilt
Lands on the ground
With a thump.
Shakes his head
“Now that was some Dream”
he said.
Looks around
And says “maybe Not!”
I’m flying Free!
He heads to the garden
Digs in the dirt
Hears a loud noise
And beats feet to hide
‘Neath the nearest bush.
Papa calls, Mama calls
No answer
Shelters called, Craigs List Ad
Neighbors on the lookout
Several hours later
A knock on the door
“think I know where he
is from the neighbor guy.
Sure enough
Green eyes peer out
From under the bush
Picked up by PaPa
In good shape
From his
Flying quilt trip
He flies to the food dish
And then settles in for a nap.

Wonderful write. you new know what a lost pet feels. Are they afraid or happy to be away for a little bit while scaring their owners to death!
