The Thankful Turkey

It is a family affair where all gather for Thanksgiving. However, the only thankful one turns out to be the main course.

Poem Artwork

Friends and family gather to feast

Uncle Jim acts like a beast

Mom's in the kitchen covered in sweat

Dad's watching the game, placing a bet

Kids running round yelling and loud

Aunt Betty ignores them smoking up a cloud

Dog sees the cat sitting all alone

Next thing you know the cat's a chew bone

Neighbors drop by to borrow some cream

Grandma's headache causes her to scream

Finally, all's done and the table is set

Things are looking good best of all yet

All gather round ready to eat

But something is missing there is no meat

And so, it's said that all was a mess

But as for me, it was a success.

Why would I say something so quirky

Because, you see, I am the turkey.

A fine, but not a fowl, solution.

From any comments here, a whole bunch of people are not having turkey, including the president who pardoned two of them yesterday. He looked rather grim having to go through that annual ritual keeping him from tweeting.

Very cute. You described a family get together perfectly. Or at least mine.
