Post it notes, the yellow ones,
This guy has got a plan.
It's so hard to get through to her
I hope to God I can.
I take them and I write my name
On every single page.
And pray to God to help me be
A genuine love sage.
Though she's engaged it is not right
She's had the guy for years.
They really will not tie the knot,
She keeps him out of fears.
I know she's worth much more than that-
But how do I get through?
And so I have this plan of mine
And this is what I'll do...
I'm taking up her offer made
That she will be my friend.
Of course I feel much more than that
But I will just pretend,
By treasuring her company
And showing her I care.
And when the time presents itself
I'll do this if I dare.
I'll tell her she's so lucky that
She has her special guy-
To love and treasure her so much
That he would even die-
To worship ground she walks upon,
Feel special she's his girl,
And treat her every day like she's
The world's most precious pearl.
If she then chooses to admit
That things are not that way,
I'll tell her she deserves no less
Than everything I say.
And she should never settle for
A man who's not her dream-
Who doesn't know that she's the best,
And if she does I'll scream.
If she responds by saying such
A man cannot be found...
That all it takes to prove that fact
Is only look around.
I'll tell her it's so simple and
She only needs to look
Inside the yellow pages as
I'm handing her my book.
