I needed you to set me back on course,
To look at things from one much better source,
To place my two feet firmly on the ground.
I would be lost had you not come around.
With gentle understanding, yet quite strong,
You pointed out what I was doing wrong.
At least I knew I should give ear to you
For all the pain I needed to get through.
It wasn’t just your words of good advice-
You give and take in ways that are so nice.
And when I slip and fall outside the line
You pull me back so everything is fine.
Coincidence or miracle, who knows?
But you are here and I can just suppose
The Gods somewhere were looking out for me,
Or else how could such good things come to me?
For all I’ve lost, it’s time that I receive
A gift more precious than I can believe,
Yes, even hearts most broken still can mend
If grace will grant the gift of such a friend.
Well done, John.

Indeed, this is a friend.
