There is a little splinter in my hand,
It’s no big deal, a tiny piece of wood.
The crazy thing that I don’t understand
Is why I don’t remove it like I should.
It’s quite a question-how can I explain
A simple task I’ve left so long undone?
But since it doesn’t cause me any pain
And I received it having lots of fun…
I guess it’s just a crazy kind of token
A tangible reminder I can see
Of when I found my heart no longer broken-
And everything the way it’s meant to be.
Well, maybe not quite everything I guess-
A splinter’s not the most romantic thing.
But still- it’s evidence that will profess
My love for her until we get a ring.
