Brush With You

The world has yet to invent a roller coaster
That could come even close
To the ride I just had.
It may have stopped; the bar may have gone up,
I may be free to go,
But I can’t move.
All I can do is ask myself…
“What just happened?”
I had a brush with you.
I knew I was a dreamer,
Sort of a given in the back of my mind.
But I did not have a clue how far I could get.
You made me scream, “Fire” in a crowded movie theater
And I was sincere.
“What just happened?”
I went from Mr. Rational Guy
To somebody who believes in witchcraft,
Magic spells, and Dragons.
I met you.
This sort of thing does not happen to me.
I did not put you on that pedestal,
I just looked up and saw you there.
And whatever possessed me to ask you
To come down and dance with me
I will never know,
But I heard my voice asking.
What will forever change my life is this…
I got your attention. You paused,
Not just for a second- for days.
I’ll keep your secret.
I got to take the ride of my life-
Believing this could actually happen.
At least I learned something good about myself.
There really is no dream so high
That my heart is afraid to give it a shot.
There really is no barrier it won’t cross
In an effort to believe in what it feels.
For that, you will always be in this heart-
But hidden as safely as you want to be.
Nobody will ever know.
If the questionnaire comes down to me
Asking about life changing experiences,
Miracles, magic, faire tales, fantasies…
I’ll just put “NA.”
